North Wales’s leading Adventure Park, GreenWood Forest Park, has announced ahead of their 22nd Birthday this weekend that they will be adding an exciting new development due to be ready by May 2016.
Since opening 22 years ago the Park has always been passionate about its environmental impact and the new signature ride will incorporate these considerations.
Funding support by a grant from Visit Wales will help towards the building of the ride, which will consist of a huge water slide with 2 wave chutes approximately 60 metres long and 1 spiral tube chute 91 metres long. The ride will start at the top of a 12 metre high tower and finish 80m away at ground level.
The news comes soon after the Park has already announced that it will be installing a 150kW photo voltaic array. The new array will not only provide carbon free power for the new ride but will also meet around 80% of the needs of the Park for the whole year.
The Park’s managing director Stephen Bristow said ““We are very pleased that Visit Wales is supporting the development of the next exciting new ride at the Park. The new ride, which has yet to be named, will be opening in Spring 2016. GreenWood is the leading Family Adventure Park in North Wales, and received a record 146,000 visitors last year. The new ride will be a great addition to the wide range of fun activities already in the Park. We look forward to welcoming many regular and new visitors over the coming months.”
Deputy Minister for Culture, Sport and Tourism, Ken Skates, added: “I’d like to congratulate GreenWood on 22 years in the business and their success is no doubt down to their drive to invest and keep the attraction fresh for new and repeat visitors. I’m delighted that we’ve been able to invest in this future development. I recently announced that 2016 will be Wales’ Year of Adventure, and an attraction such as GreenWood provides fantastic opportunities for families to have adventures and to explore and try something new for the first time.”
