Local attraction GreenWood Forest Park isn’t just about providing families with a fun, activity-filled day out – it’s also involved in the conservation of wildlife living in the Park.
“Every year the Park install more bird boxes to encourage native birds to breed here – the boxes dotted around the Park give the birds a safe nesting place” GreenWood’s Animal Welfare Officer, Gavin Shaw said.
The BTO (British Trust for Ornithology) are running National Nest Box week from 14th – 22ndFebruary to encourage people to use nesting boxes. GreenWood have decided to give away bird boxes on a first come, first served basis. The nest boxes are suitable for Blue Tits and any other birds of this size. You can get in touch by calling them on 01248 671493 or emailing them firstname.lastname@example.org.
Kelvin Jones from BTO Cymru had this to say “When you pick up your nest box it would be nice if you would enrol in the BTO Nest Box Challenge. Your data on how your box is used can be incorporated into the national data set which helps inform us on the breeding success”.
